My First Day

This is it. My first day as a blogger. Well, what to say…I am due to run the London Landmarks half marathon a week tomorrow in aid of Cancer Research UK. (Shameless plug for my Just Giving Page below):

Following on from that, I have my first marathon in October, the reason I have decided to start this blog. October 20th at 9.30am in York to be precise – which I have been reliably informed is flat? Blooming hope this is true! I am bricking it already and if anyone has any words of wisdom with regards to training I would be very grateful (particularly as I seemed to have picked up an ankle injury). I know I can run 13.1 miles but the thought of doing that again…well, excuse me while I reach for another G&T!

Just to be clear – I am NOT a natural runner. A majority of my body is taped up to stop it from aching/hurting or just generally stopping me from running -it can take me half an hour on a good day just to get ready!

I am NOT fast either. I have recently discovered the benefits of not trying to keep up with whatever pace my watch says average women of my age achieve (as I can never match it) and weirdly, have been running a bit faster. Who knew?

Anyway, I hope if you are reading this you find something to relate to and if you are a bit of an expert runner please feel free to offer any hints and tips! I will let you know how my training is progressing and you never know, in seven months I may even be able to call myself a marathoner!
